Chief Guest Lt. Gen. A. V. Subramanian, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), unfurled Tri-Colour
Sainikpuri: The Madhavapuri Colony Welfare Association (MWA) celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Madhavapuri Colony. The celebrations were graced by Chief Guest Shri A. V. Subramanian, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), who unfurled the National Flag in the presence of many senior residents and members of the MWA committee. The National Anthem was sung following the flag hoisting. The Chief Guest was warmly welcomed and felicitated by the MWA committee. The newly constituted MWA committee was also introduced to the residents on the occasion. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents, with the celebration reflecting the spirit of patriotism, unity, community participation and responsible citizenship. The MWA expressed its sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, residents and all committee members for their valuable presence, cooperation and support in making the Independence Day celebrations a memorable and grand success. The MWA conveyed its commitment to continue working together for the welfare, development and harmony of Madhavapuri Colony. MWA feels proud to have distinguished retired army Officers like Subramaniam and Col. (Retd.) L.S.N. Murthy as residents of our colony. Sai Chandrika appeared as ‘Bharat Mata’ in tricolour costumes.
Lt Gen (Retd.) Subramanian exhorted the parents to inculcate patriotism among the children and desist them from using mobiles and digital content. Digi content is like using drugs. He said day by day children becoming addicted to digi content instead of being seen in play grounds and libraries. He called parents to gift Vemana and Sumathi shatakam books to children and make them practice the morals. He was happy that new batches of Agni Veers are being inducted into Armed Forces. He called for welcoming and absorbing new recruits into social melieu. Colony President Yousuff, Col. (Retd.) L.S.N. Murthy , Senior members of the committee, Mrs. Sadhana Kumar and others spoke on the occasion.

Lt Gen A. V. Subramanian, AVSM, VSM (Retd.) is a distinguished former officer of the Indian Army Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), with nearly four decades of service in various command, instructional and senior staff appointments. He was commissioned into the Indian Army in December 1974 and holds a Master’s degree from IIT Kanpur and a Master’s in Management Studies from Osmania University.During his illustrious career, he made significant contributions to the development of indigenous defence technology and training simulators for the Indian Army. At the Army Headquarters, he served as Director General, Weapons & Equipment, where he was involved in major aspects of defence acquisition and strengthening India’s indigenous defence industrial capability.After his retirement in March 2014, Lt Gen Subramanian continued to contribute to the nation through his work on defence acquisition, strategic partnerships, defence production, self-reliance and indigenous aerospace and defence technologies. He has also been associated with various government committees and academic institutions on defence-related matters.He is a recipient of the Ati Vishishta Seva Medal (AVSM) and Vishishta Seva Medal (VSM), recognising his distinguished service to the nation.
